Blogging Nightmares and Bandwidth Mayhem

Tuesday, May 7th, 2013

My blog is under attack by some sort of virtual worm. A worm I’d like to stomp into oblivion…

And apparently bandwidth is an issue as well… making my blog crash altogether. Which sort of defeats the purpose of blogging, ya know?

I’m sad – but working on it - I promise.

Stay with me as I work through these lovely *sarcasm* technical issues and *fingers crossed* upgrade the website to something more fantastic, more interactive, and less worm-plagued and bandwidth deficient…

Anyone know what bandwidth is exactly? All I know it, I’m not a fan…

In the meantime, please keep up with me via Facebook or Twitter! The Medusa, A Love Story Birthday Bash is still underway – don’t miss out on the opportunity to win some very cool prizes. :)

Three Godesses Release Party – Post #4

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2013

I’ve had lots of fun so far – THANK YOU for that!

So we’ve covered the visual side of things, now I’m going to delve into the musical side of things. For me, I think of writing my books almost like I was making a movie. That’s why I use images and music… I mean, you have to have an amazing soundtrack for a film, right? For me, the movie is a deal breaker. I honestly get distracted if the music doesn’t fit or if I just can’t stand it. Or is it just me?

I admit – I can be a little… eccentric. *shrug*

Here’s another excerpt for you. A favor this time. Read it. Then read it again while playing the song link below…  Just curious to know if there was a difference in your reading exeperience of not… For those of you that read Medusa, A Love Story – this excerpt might get to you – sorry!!!

Excerpt:

She gasped. Within the clouds, pockets of red and orange leapt and fell. Fire. She glanced at Hades, looking for reassurance. But he stood, staring into the fields before them. His hands gripped the stone of the balcony, his stance at the ready.

But ready for what? She moved to his side, growing ever concerned by the roar of the wind, the flashes of strange fire and lightening. His attention did not waver. She shielded her face from the winds and followed his gaze. The fields were empty, save one.

A man stood, peering up.

Another tremor shook them. But Persephone’s eyes remained fixed upon the man. The sky snapped, thunder boomed, and a large hole appeared at his feet. He slipped, one foot sliding forward, before he jumped back from the edge. It gaped angrily, casting a red glow on the grasses lining the sudden gash.

Persephone moved forward, gripping the railing of the banister at Hades’ side. Fire rose from below, lightening forced from above, both caught in the spiraling winds. The man braced himself as the gust of fire wrapped and twisted about him. Orange flames seared, lightening licked and pricked, yet he did not move. The wind picked up, the flames rising with it. His wheaten curls lifted and fell, but the billowing folds of his exomie burned away. And still his gaze remained constant on the clouds above.

The clouds split, unleashing ice and rain upon him.

“Why does he not seek shelter?” she whispered, vaguely aware that Hades stood beside her.

His voice was low. “He is waiting.”

“For what?”

But Persephone saw her then. A woman fell, tumbling from the angry black clouds. Skeins of long honey hair streamed up, shielding her face from view. The man in the field leaned forward, teetering precariously on the edge of the open hole. His feet and legs were red, slipping closer to the entrance. His every muscle tightened, readying.

The wind fell still.

She gripped Hades’ arm. “He will fall…”

“They will not.” Hades lifted his hand, his fingers rippling slowly, forcefully, pulling towards himself in one undulating wave.

A sudden gust caught the woman, casting her safely into the man’s arms. Hades scooped his hand sharply, pulling his arm towards his chest. The wind echoed his motion, lifting and carrying the pair far from the gaping hole. Hades exhaled. His hand opened, falling back to the railing, and releasing the couple upon the thick grasses of Asphodel.

The sky cleared, the clouds rolling back with a startling speed. The roaring wind softened. And the hole vanished, leaving the field whole, its grasses waving calmly in the ever present breeze.

But Persephone could not tear her eyes from the couple. The man sat up, cradling the woman with an almost reverent tenderness. He swept the hair from the woman’s face, cupping her cheek. His smile was blinding as he pulled her limp form to him.

“This is him? Ariston?” Persephone did not care that tears rolled down her cheek.

“It is.” Hades’ voice was husky.

Ariston was gazing at the woman, speaking to her. The woman moved then, touching his lips and stroking his cheek. She pressed her lips to Ariston’s, wrapping her arms about him fiercely.

Persephone turned from them, wiping the tears from her cheeks. “Such a bittersweet reunion.”

“There is no sadness there,” he murmured. “There is only joy.”

She looked back to find the pair. The woman stood, pulling Ariston up. She wrapped her arms about him and leaned into him as he kissed her soundly. Persephone heard the woman laugh, and smiled as the two headed to the shore. A boat waited.

“Elysium?” she asked, turning her still wet eyes to him.

He barely glanced at her as he made his way back inside the hall. “Yes.”

This song actually inspired this scene – when I wrote if for the book Medusa, A Love Story. This one as well. I rarely listen to songs with lyrics when I’m writing the Olympus books… Anyway, When Hades story came about – it was an equally important scene. But you’ll have to read Hades to learn why exactly…

Let me know – did you like the songs? I can’t tell you how many times I’ve listened to them. When I hear them now, they instantly take me to that scene.

Beside sharing your thoughts on the songs I’ve shared, I’d love to know if there’s a song or soundtrack that really gets to you! So share away!

And thank you!!! *HUGS*

Over to Jean!

For the Love of Hades – COVER REVEAL

Monday, December 17th, 2012

I’m completely thrilled with the cover for January’s release:

For the Love of Hades

The Loves of Olympus Series ~ Book 2

Hades, God of Death, has no heart. Persephone is determined to prove otherwise…

Hades, the Lord of the Underworld, has no patience for living things or his Olympian brethren. His purpose is order, administering justice to those who enter his realm, and keeping the balance decreed by the Fates. Meeting Persephone sways his focus, her gentle sweetness threatening his control. But he will not be tempted.

Poseidon’s scheming wreaks havoc upon Persephone. Hades has no choice – he must rescue her.

Hades awakens something within the Goddess Persephone. She feels no fear from his brooding presence. In truth, she’s never felt so alive. Every stolen moment together only confirms her instinct: he is meant to be hers. Such a powerful union suit will face opposition – from Olympus, her troubled betrothed, the Fates, even Hades himself – but she is determined to win his heart.

If you’ve read Book One, Medusa, A Love Story, you’ve met Hades… But this book is all Him – and Persephone, of course.

Soooo…. *nervous butterflies*… What do you think? Love the cover? Has the blurb grabbed your attention??

EEk – I hope so! I cannot wait to share this with you!?!?!

I’m thrilled to share today with two amazing fellow Crescent Moon Press authors: Lynn Rush and Jean Murray… Together we’re planning all sorts of delights for readers, fans, and friends.

Tainted by Lynn Rush

Even death can’t stop true love…

After over four hundred years as a Guardian, Durk Langdon rebuked it all. Walked away from everything when his mate, Jessica, was brutally murdered. Yet he has no recollection of anything since that gruesome day.

Nothing alleviates his longing for Jessica or his disdain for the Guardians until a former brother in arms joins him and his cause. Visions of his lost love start appearing in the most unlikely places, until Durk learns she survived.

But when he sets out to find her, demonic obstacles he never could have imagined tear them apart.

If only he had trusted her…

Soul Awakened by Jean Murray

Only the strongest love can unlock the souls of the Underworld

LOVE FOR BLOOD OR HONOR

Kendra, an Egyptologist and demi-god in waiting, is the key to unlocking Bakari, the Egyptian God of Death, from his cursed slumber. Desperate to free him, she inadvertently binds herself to the god with a spell that only death will undo. To save Bakari from himself, she may have to sacrifice her innocence, and possibly her soul, before he becomes his family’s worst enemy.

HAUNTED BY SINS OF THE PAST

Bakari awakens to a world at war and a beautiful woman who has tethered his soul to hers. In the wake of his self-destruction Kendra is his only hope of salvation, but another has vowed to keep Bakari from the one thing he craves most– his Parvana. His butterfly.

Don’t these all sound fantasitc? You see why I’m so jazzed to be working with these two awesome authors?

Book Signing & Book Birthday Preparations!

Friday, July 13th, 2012

Tomorrow is a BIG DAY!

1. Hollywood Ever After releases!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Isn’t it pretty?

I cannot wait to hear what readers have to say. :)

2. I have a book signing for both my books. Which means I’m super EXCITED… and totally nauseous.

Here’s the thing. Book signings are a wonderful way to meet readers and ‘sell’ your book. There is nothing cooler than having people eagerly snatch up your book, want your autograph, and promptly purchase it. I mean, it’s your book. The book you wrote, went sleepless over, had dreams over, ‘bled’ over – or almost, at times. And now, it’s here for other’s to read and enjoy. Yay! Right?

But… (doubt demons arriving) What if no one comes? What is no one wants your book? What if someone has read your book and was so frustrated by it that they hunt you down to confront you at your book signing? (Okay, I have an overly developed imagination, but I am a writer after all.) Basically, what if the signing is a bust?

There’s no way of knowing.

What I do know? Tomorrow I’m CELEBRATING the release of my second book (that is so awesome to say!)!!!

And I’m having a book signing! And while I’m grounded enough to know that there will not be a line around Barnes and Noble, I do hope that a few folks (not related to me!!) will show up. :)

If you’re in San Antonio (or the Hill Country), feel free to stop by :) ! The details are HERE!

And don’t forget to drop by the Blog Tour for Josh & Claire’s story … and cool Stuff!
