I loved this movie. It’s nice to have the opportunity to watch a film with your family that provides some history and talking points afterward. Though my seven and ten year old boys held their breaths waiting for a battle (in vain), they all made it through.
I have nothing critical to say about this film – I sincerely loved it.
The acting was wonderful, cinematography lovely and the music perfect.
If you like period pieces, rent this, cuddle up on the couch and enjoy!

I haven’t seen this movie yet, but the subject matter is fascinating. I’m hoping some day there will be a movie made of Victoria’s daughter Vicky, the Princess Royal, and mother of the Kaiser. The death of Princess Charlotte, Victoria’s cousin, was the big trauma of the Regency period, but it led to Victoria’s reign.
Love the blog—-excellent example of great dialogue!
I loved this movie! I saw it in the theater and thought it was excellent. Very beautiful and the Oscar for the costumes was well deserved! I hope they keep making more films like this.
I agree – it’s refreshing to go to a film this sumptuous while everyone keeps their clothes on and no ones dies a horribly saintly death.
