The Adjustment Bureau – Movie Review

July 8th, 2011 by Sasha

It didn’t do much on the big screen, I can see why. It’s not that it wasn’t enjoyable – but it was one of those rare movies that’s better viewed in a more intimate setting.

Sure, there are some cool chase scenes and interesting special effects, but this movie – at it’s core – is a wonderful love story. And you know how I’m a sucker for a good love story. I think the average viewer might have been stumped by the films rather unconventional plot twists and slightly religious, yet sinister, undertones.

Matt Damon was dreamy, Emily Blount was endearingly kookie and the supporting cast was solid.

But it was one line, one line, that totally got me… Matt Damon’s character (who has been adjusted several times to keep him ‘on the plan’ to become Senator, then President) asks why he and Elise can’t be together. He is told, “Because she’s enough, David… If you have her you won’t need to fill that hole inside of you with applause and votes and dreams of one day making it to the White House.”

  1. We watched this a few weeks ago. I’ve been meaning to write a review on it, but keep forgetting of course. Anyway, I totally loved it. It’s an urban fantasy with angels!
