Weekend Happenings…

Sunday, January 23rd, 2011

Friday night my husband and I had a date. We ventured to the movie theater (i know, a shock!) and watched True Grit and Season of the Witch. True Grit was okay – very one dimensional with an ending that left you wanting something more satisfying. We will not discuss Season of the Witch… :(

Saturday meant DARA time! I love this group of ladies and the motivation these meetings provide. This weeked was interesting – Corinne Kenner  came to talk to us about using Tarot cards for story development. It was a FUN meeting. I can see how they might be useful when you’re stumped. But, generally, I know what my story is going’s journey will be before I sit down.

And then I found out I finaled in the GOTCHA competition, offered through Silicon Valley RWA. I’m totally giddy about this! I entered this story for feedback – :) I have to say I’m pretty pleased with the results.

Finally, I finished another Julia Quinn novel – ‘The Secret Diaries of Miranda Cheever’  And I LOVE Julia Quinn! She makes me happy in a warm-fuzzy kind of way. Thank you for that Julia!

Unsung Hero – Suzanne Brockmann

Tuesday, January 4th, 2011

I’m pasting this review from my Goodreads account. Why?      Because I loved this book!
Why?
Because Real Men cry – and it’s sexy and manly and powerful.
This story isn’t about one couple, it was a layered novel that makes all three love stories pivotal, sweet and rewarding.
I loved Mallorie and her surprising secret. I liked Kelly’s hidden sex-kitten. And Cybele was heart-breakingly easy to martyr.
The men were all as varied as the women – each charming and attractive in their own unique way.
I guess that’s what impressed me the most. The individual character clarity was so solid, each voice standing alone.
I’m now a Su Brockmann Fan!  I never thought I’d find romance reading about Navy Seals, but I did!
Another Great Book Club assignment!!

Next Book Club read – Blood Trinity by Sherrilyn Kenyon and Dianna Love. Paranormal romance complete with demons and gods and stuff… I’ll let you know…
